Georgian rescuers found the bodies of three Russian climbers, who were victims of an avalanche during their descent from Mkinvartsveri peak on Thursday.

Georgian rescuers found the bodies of three Russian climbers, who were victims of an avalanche during their descent from Mkinvartsveri peak on Thursday.

As reported by the Department of Emergency Situations of The Georgian Interior Ministry, on Friday morning, two rescue teams were taken to the place of the avalanche by helicopter.

Four Russian climbers were caught in the avalanche in Kazbegi region of Georgia: 44-year-old Sergei Stepanov, his sons, 17-year-old Stepan and 19-year-old Maxim, as well as Stepanov family friend, 42-year-old Sergei Movchan. They are all from Rostov region. Three of them died.

Only 19-year-old Maxim survived. He managed to reach a populated area. He was admitted to a hospital with frostbitten limbs.
