Georgian Patriarch to meet with Russian President in Moscow

The Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia Ilia the Second will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to representatives of Georgian Patriarchate, the meeting will be held on January 23.

It will be attended by Russian Patriarch Kirill.

Patriarch of Georgia has already left for Moscow. Along with him Personal Representative of the Prime Minister of Georgia Vakhtang Abashidze also headed to Moscow.

In Moscow, Ilya II will be awarded the Patriarch Alexy II Prize for the spiritual unity of Russia and Georgia. The award is to be assigned by the International public union foundation.

On 21 January, the annual, 13th awarding ceremony will be led by the Patriarch of Russia Kirill.

The Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II will be awarded with the prize for the outstanding efforts to strengthen the unity of Orthodox people, establishing and promotion of Christian values in the society.

In Moscow, Patriarch intends to discuss the issue of reburial of the Georgian kings.
