Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Alasania is on an official visit to Great Britain. He is accompanied by the deputy chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Vladimir Chachibaya.

As the ministry told Trend on Monday, during a three-day visit, the Georgian delegation will meet with representatives of the British government, parliament, Defence Ministry and armed forces.

Alasania will meet with the head of the Intelligence and Security Committee of the House of Representatives, Sir Malcolm Rifkind, chairman of the Defence Select Committee, James Arbuthnot, Shadow Minister for European Affairs Emma Reynolds, parliamentarian Mark Reckless and members of the parliamentary group for Georgia.

During the visit, Georgian Defence Minister will meet with the State Minister for European issues and NATO, MP, David Lidington, while Colonel Vladimir Chachibaya will meet with the head of the British Armed Forces, General Sir David Richards.

Meetings with representatives of the Defence Ministry are scheduled for January 29.

Members of the Georgian delegation will also meet with the Minister for International Security Strategy Andrew Murisson, deputy head of group of advisors on security sector development David Clark and director of international security policy Stephen McCarthy.

On the same day, Alasania will take part in a round table discussion at Chatham House.

The official visit will end on 30 January.
