Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb.21 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /

The Georgian Government is refusing to build a new seat in Tbilisi, head of State Chancellery Maia Tskitishvili told reporters following a government meeting on Thursday.

By a decision of Bidzina Ivanishvili's government, construction was suspended, Tskitishvili said.

She stressed that the government will remain in the old building of the State Chancellery, as the Prime Minister is working here and do not see any need to move to new facilities.

"We cannot afford such a luxury, especially since 16 million Lari ($ 1 = 1.66 Lari) out of 26 million has been already spent on the still uncompleted project," Tskitishvili said.

Therefore, the documentation for the construction of the building was handed over to law enforcement agencies, as there is suspicion of large scale embezzlement.

Today, the government declassified the project.
