Georgia could avoid war in 2008 with Russia only in the case of cancellation of their statehood, said Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili live on "Rustavi-2" .
"Russia was preparing for war after we closed them the way our governments, intelligence agencies, created a system of defense and ensured energy security and Russia took it all in arms," he said.
Saakashvili said that Russia has always tried to subdue Georgia under President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, and under President Eduard Shevardnadze.
"We do not want war, but I'm not crazy and I do not want war with Russia," Saakashvili said, noting that Georgia was forced to war.
He stressed that in the case of desire, Georgia could start a war in winter, when the road from Russia to South Ossetia is closed and then it was possible to solve military problems easier.
