Chairman of the Georgian Parliament David Usupashvili received the Special Representative of the Secretary General of NATO for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai.

As Usupashvili told reporters after the meeting, they discussed the post-election situation in Georgia.

"It was our first meeting after the election, so we discussed the post-election period. You know that a very important event is scheduled in two or three weeks in Georgia. NATO week is being held now, and at the end of the month we are also waiting for high-ranking guests from NATO headquarters and member countries," Usupashvili said.

According to him, the parties discussed what to do to make the next year successful in terms of the integration of Georgia into the alliance.

"In this respect, the presidential elections and the outcome of the Vilnius summit are very important. Continuation of the cohabitation and normal completion of the presidential election are also very important. So it was a business conversation and friendly dialogue," Usupashvili said.

The presidential elections in Georgia are scheduled for the second half of 2013.
