Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maia Panjikidze met with her Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif within the framework of the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly.

The sides discussed bilateral relations, Georgian Foreign Ministry said.

Special attention was paid to economic and cultural issues.

After the meeting Panjikidze said Iran is Georgia's neighbour and therefore the economic and cultural relations are very developed between the two countries.

"A lot of Iranians visit Georgia. They are interested in our country not only as tourists, but also for business. Therefore it is logical that I met with Iran's new Minister of Foreign Affairs. This meeting was also interesting for him because we are actually neighbours and have quite intense relationships," Panjikidze said.

Georgia's aspiration for European integration was discussed at the meeting of top diplomats of Georgia and Croatia.

In addition, a document on the establishment of diplomatic relations was signed between Georgia and Lesotho.

Georgia has also signed Memoranda of Understanding with Colombia and Kiribati.
