Servicemen of the 31st Battalion of the Third Infantry Brigade and the Batumi Separate Light Infantry Battalion of the Georgian Armed Forces have begun duties as part of the mission of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF).

Servicemen of the 31st Battalion of the Third Infantry Brigade and the Batumi Separate Light Infantry Battalion of the Georgian Armed Forces have begun duties as part of the mission of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF).

They have already arrived in the Afghan province of Helmand, the Georgian Defence Ministry told Trend on Tuesday.

In order to participate in the ISAF mission the troops underwent a six-month intensive training period at the Krtsanisi National Training Centre. They also visited the German town of Hohenfels, where trained at the U.S. Joint Multinational Readiness Centre (JMRC).
