Georgia's becoming an example of a successful country and an associated country in the European Union is the best way of restoring its territorial integrity, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said in Tbilisi on Wednesday after a meeting with the Georgian Prime Minister.
"I agree with the Prime Minister who said the country should become a member of the European community. However, the opposition is a part of the system in the democratic world. The quality of the process of transferring power is very important. Compliance with these principles in the future is significant," Sikorski said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili and Swedish Foreign Minister, Carl Bildt.
The Polish Foreign Minister expressed confidence that at the Vilnius summit, Georgia will be able to initial the association agreement with the EU.
"It means that you are following European legislation. Hopefully everything will be fine. For now you are fully meeting these standards. Next year we will welcome Georgia as an associated country," Radoslaw Sikorski said.
The presidential election in Georgia will be held on October 27.
