Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili today signed a decree appointing Irina Imerlishvili to the post of National Security Council Secretary and the president’s assistant for national security affairs.

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili today signed a decree appointing Irina Imerlishvili to the post of National Security Council Secretary and the president's assistant for national security affairs.

The only woman-general in Georgia, Irina Imerlishvili has held the post of chairperson of the parliamentary committee on procedure and rules until now.

Earlier, Georgian ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili's companion Giga Bokeria held the position. He resigned on November 15.
