The Georgian side has received assurances from the organizers of the Sochi Olympics that the safety of Georgian sportsmen will be ensured.

Georgia will send a representative of the Georgian consulate from its interest section of the embassy of Switzerland, deputy of minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia said at a briefing on Feb. 3.

"Naturally, we cannot accept the measures taken by France and the UK. We do not have diplomatic relations with Russia; however, we have assurances from the organizers that nothing threatens the security of the Georgian sportsmen. I want to say that all we can do is to direct a representative of the Georgian consulate to Sochi from our interest section of the embassy of Switzerland, which will be there during the Olympics. Its activities will follow our legislation. It will be located in the territory of Switzerland and work for 24 hours. We will publish the numbers of "hotlines" on which you will be able to contact us. Of course, all the structures of Georgia, which are connected with the security of our sportsmen and their performance in Sochi, will work 24/7 till the Olympics are over," Zalkaliani said.

There will be a meeting with the Georgian Olympic delegation today, according to him.
