The inflation rate in Georgia amounted to 1.2 percent in September 2014 compared to the previous month and 4.8 percent compared to September 2013, GruzStat (Georgian National Statistical Service) said on Oct.3.
The growth of food prices and non-alcoholic drinks (3.3 percent) had a significant impact on the formation of inflation during the reporting period (0.96 percent), according to the report.
During the reporting period, prices increased for vegetables by 16.1 percent and fruits by 15 percent, as well as milk, cheese and eggs by 6.2 percent, meat and meat foods by 1.3 percent.

The services sector saw a 1.5 percent increase in prices in health care, which accounted for 0.17 percent of the overall inflation rate. Medical products and equipment prices have increased by 6.1 percent.

During the year, significant price hike in the group was observed in vegetables (27.3 percent), fruits (16.9 percent), milk, cheese and eggs (12 percent).

Prices for vegetable oil and fats have dropped by 4.3 percent in September, compared to the same period last year.
