The Georgian Railway Joint-Stock Company's revenues reached the highest-ever level in the first eight months of 2014 standing at 335.1 million Georgian laris (about $191 million as of Oct. 4).

This indicator is 9.3 percent more than the figures for the same period of 2013.

On Oct. 4, the Georgian Railway said the revenues from cargo transportations rose by 6.9 percent to 251.2 million laris, due to a significant increase in revenues from dry cargo and petroleum products transportation.

This particularly includes a significant increase in transportation of ferrous metals and scrap metals, sugar, industrial raw materials and crops.

Revenues from other cargo operations amounted to 70.6 million laris, which is 18.7 percent more compared with the figures for 2013.
