The number of accusations against the former or current Georgian officials raises suspicions that the country's judicial system is used for political purposes, US Ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland said.

"We urge the government to dispel these suspicions," the ambassador told reporters on Nov.5.

Norland said now, under the conditions of unrest in the region and the challenges facing Georgia, stability, unity and adherence to the justice and the rule of law is the only thing that the country needs.

The diplomat urged all the parties to cooperate for achieving these goals and put the country's future in the spotlight, adding that Georgia's future depends on the integration into the Euro-Atlantic institutions.

Following the meeting of the political council of the Georgian Dream bloc on Nov.4, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced the dismissal of Defense Minister Irakli Alasania. Alasania's friend and colleague, the State Minister of Georgia for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili resigned as well.

Earlier on Nov.5, Maia Panjikidze resigned from the post of Georgia's foreign minister. Aside from Panjikidze, her deputies - David Zalkaliani, Tamar Beruchashvili and David Jalagania - also resigned.
