Georgia’s GDP to reach historical maximum in 2022 – government

Georgia’s GDP in January 2022 will amount to 65 billion Georgian lari ($20.9 billion), which will become the historical maximum, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said, Trend reports via the press service of the government administration.

The economic growth rate in Georgia for the first 9 months of 2021 was 11 percent, which is an unprecedented growth across the region and Europe, the PM noted.

“Georgia’s GDP per capita will be $5,500, which is also a historical maximum. According to the International Monetary Fund, Georgia will have the highest economic growth in the next 5 years, in the region and in Europe,” Irakli Garibashvili said.

“The government has also prepared programs on developing agriculture sector. We will expand the scale further from January 2022,” he added.

According to the head of the government, active work is underway with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development to create new tourist locations, promote production, and agriculture.

“Our main concern should be the creation of new employment places, overcoming poverty and uniting our country. We should all work together around these three basic ideas,” the PM said.
