Georgia’s hazelnut exports continue to increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 30

Georgia has exported up to 14,600 tons of hazelnuts worth $66.8 million from August 1 through November 28, 2021, Trend reports, referring to the publication of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.

According to the ministry, Georgian hazelnuts are mainly exported to European countries, as well as to neighboring countries.

TOP 10 importers of Georgian hazelnuts:

Italy – 5,957 tons;

Germany – 2,628 tons;

Armenia – 930 tons;

China – 780 tons;

Spain – 424 tons;

Czech Republic – 423 tons;

Poland – 337 tons;

Russia – 337 tons;

Lithuania – 284 tons;

Ukraine – 256 tons.

According to the ministry, the hazelnut harvest in 2021 is of high quality due to active and purposeful work on pest extermination. It is planned to collect about 65,000-70,000 tons the export potential of which is $150 million.
