By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:
Turkish Airlines transported the largest number of people in Georgia over the first 11 months of 2021, accounting for 12 percent of the total passenger traffic, Trend reports via Georgian AviaNews.
According to the Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Turkish Airlines carried 248,395 passengers from January through November 2021.
Ukrainian low-cost airline SkyUp Airlines' passenger traffic accounted for 9 percent of the Georgian aviation sector, carrying 182,924 passengers from January through September 2021.
Turkish Pegasus Airlines, Hungarian Wizz Air and Belarusian Belavia each accounted for 8 percent of the total passenger traffic in the reporting period of 2021, the report said.
The rest of the list includes Saudi Arabian Flynas, the UAE Airline Flydubai, Israir Airlines, Georgian Airways, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), Bees Airline, Air Astana, FlyArystan, Ukraine International Airlines (FlyUIA), LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Arabia, Aircompany Armenia, EL Al Israel Airlines, YanAir, and Qatar Airways.
The decrease or the increase of the percentage for the airline depends on the total passenger flow in a particular year and the number of passengers carried by a particular airline during the reporting period.
Due to the regulations imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, most of the airlines carried out limited flights in/out of Georgia.
