Turkmenistan becomes main gasoline exporter to Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 13

Georgia’s imports of gasoline and diesel fuel from Turkmenistan from January through December 2021 amounted to 244,601 tons, which accounted for 21.3 percent of total imports of these two types of gasoline, Trend reports via the Union of Petroleum Products Importers of Georgia.

Thus, Turkmenistan ranked first among largest gasoline and diesel fuel exporters to Georgia in 2021, followed by Russia (221,181 tons), and Azerbaijan (215,872 tons).

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan also became the main gasoline (RON-91 gasoline) supplier to Georgia in 2021, the report said.

Georgia’s total imports of gasoline and diesel fuel from January through December 2021 amounted to 1.1 million tons, which is an increase of 3.9 percent, or 42,700 tons, compared to 2020.

The same figure also increased by 4.8 percent, or 52,700 tons, compared to the reporting period of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).
