Georgia reveals top commercial banks by non-performing loans

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 11

The share of non-performing loans in overall share of loans issued by Georgia’s commercial banks to business sector in the fourth quarter of 2021 slightly decreased to 6 percent, compared to the previous quarter, Trend reports via Georgian media.

This was mainly due to the portfolio growth and the improvement of the overall financial conditions of particular organizations.

Meanwhile, the share of non-performing loans in total loans to individuals also decreased. In particular, non-performing loans in mortgage decreased by 3 percent, and in consumer loans - to 5 percent, which the result of portfolio growth and improving the economic situation of households.

According to the financial indicators of the fourth quarter of 2021, the share of non-performing loans in total loans is the highest in Georgia’s Cartu Bank, where 33.8 percent of the loan portfolio of more than 1 billion Georgian lari ($344.8 million) is inactive, but the annual volume of non-performing loans in Cartu Bank increased by only 1.18 percentage points.

Meanwhile, Pasha Bank Georgia had the highest annual growth, with non-performing loans up 5.3 percentage points.
