BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 18

By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:

The issue of fuel price increase in Georgia depends on external factors, the Vice Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili said, Trend reports via Georgian media.

“Fuel prices in Georgia will be monitored, and if the significant changes are observed, we will have an adequate response,” Davitashvili said.

According to the minister, the Government has regular meetings with fuel importers and provides them with corresponding benefits. He also noted that Georgia will continue intensive communication with fuel importers.

Georgia already saw an increase in prices for almost all types of fuel in January 2022.

According to the Union of Petroleum Products Importers of Georgia, an increase of 22 percent has already been observed since the beginning of the year, and fuel prices may increase to a total of 25 tetri (8 cents) in the long term.

Meanwhile, as the CEO of Wissol Petroleum Georgia Vasil Khorava said, fuel prices increase in Georgia will be inevitable, as oil prices in the international market increase, and in December 2021 fuel stocks are running out.
