Georgia's GDP growth up in January 2022

Georgia’s estimated real GDP growth rate in January 2022 amounted to 18 percent year-on-year, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s GDP growth over the same period of 2021 amounted to 10.6 percent, and to - 6.8 percent in January 2020, the report said.

The growth was observed in the following sectors: manufacturing; transportation and storage; electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply; trade; hotels and restaurants, arts, entertainment and recreation; real estate; and mining and quarrying.

According to the statistics, the decrease in the real value added to the GDP growth was indicated in the construction, and information and communication sectors.

Meanwhile, the revised growth rate for Georgia’s GDP in 2021 will amount to 11.3 percent, and to 5.6 percent in 2022 (in the baseline scenario), the forecast of the Policy and Management Consulting Group said.

According to the data released by Fitch Ratings, Georgia’s GDP is projected to increase by 5.5 percent in 2022, and 5.3 percent in 2023.
