Georgia sees increase in transport and logistics services

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 9

By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:

Amid the economic crisis due to unstable situation in the region, transport and logistics services in Georgia have increased, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili said, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Today, the Georgian corridor and transport infrastructure are a priority for many trading partners, including Central Asian countries and other countries in the region, as one of the stable alternatives, Davitashvili said.

According to the minister, due to the hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, Georgia may lose in turnover with its major trading partners, however, the government will adequately respond to the challenges to maintain political and economic stability, as well as the development pace.

The economic team of the government, together with the National Bank of Georgia, works closely on the forecast of a possible influence and the development of an action plan in response to the economic sanctions imposed in Russia, the minister said.

Georgia might as well use its foreign exchange reserves in order to maintain the economic stability in the country, he added.
