AZAL ranks among main passenger carriers in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) carried 27,866 passengers through Georgia’s airports from January through March 2022, Trend reports via Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia.

According to the report, AZAL ranked 6 among TOP-10 passenger carriers through Georgia’s airports over the first quarter of 2022 with 4-percent share in the total passenger turnover.

Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines ranked first with 90,258 passengers transported through Georgia’s airports over the reporting period of 2022 (13-percent share), followed by WizzAir, Hungarian low-cost airline, (89,442), and Pegasus Airlines, Turkish low-cost carrier, (70,470).

The passenger traffic in Georgia’s airports from January through March 2022 recovered by 69 percent, compared to the pre-COVID-19 pandemic period. Georgia’s airports served 700,200 passengers in the reporting period of 2022, while 1.01 million people were served over the same period of 2019.

The number of passengers served at Georgia’s airports over the first quarter of 2022 increased by 565 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 (105,279), however, decreased by 1.5 percent, compared to the reporting period of 2020 (711,536).
