BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. The consumer price index increased by 0.1 percent in Georgia in August 2022, compared to July 2022, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
According to Geostat, the annual inflation rate in Georgia amounted to 10.9 percent in August 2022. In terms of the annual core inflation, the prices increased by 7 percent, and the annual core inflation without tobacco also amounted to 7 percent.
The annual inflation rate was mostly influenced by price changes for the following groups:
- Food and non-alcoholic beverages (15.8-percent increase, contributing 5.14 percentage points to the annual inflation rate);
- Transport (15.6-percent increase, contributing 1.87 percentage points to the annual inflation rate);
- Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (12.4-percent increase, contributing 1.19 percentage points to the annual inflation rate);
- Restaurants and hotels (14.9 percent, contributing 0.63 percentage points to the annual inflation rate).
