BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. Money transfers from Azerbaijan to Georgia significantly decreased in December 2022, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank of Georgia.
According to the bank, remittances from Azerbaijan to Georgia amounted to $4.7 million in December 2022, which is a decrease of 30.5 percent over the same month in 2021 ($6.7 million).
Thus, Azerbaijan ranked 11th in terms of remittances to Georgia in December 2022.
Russia ranked first among countries in the world in terms of remittances to Georgia in the reporting month - $317.3 million, followed by Italy ($43.2 million) and the US ($34.3 million).
Overall, money transfers to Georgia in December last year amounted to $535.3 million, which is 2.3 times more compared to the corresponding month of 2021 ($229.5 million). The total amount of remittances sent from Azerbaijan to Georgia in 2022 was over $55 million.
