Georgia sees increase in average monthly earnings for 1Q2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. The average monthly nominal earnings of hired employees in Georgia in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 18.7 percent compared to the same period of 2022, and amounted to 1,716 Georgian lari ($660), Trend reports.

According to the National Statistics Office of the country, the average monthly earnings in the business sector in the reporting period has increased by 18.9 percent to 1,759 Georgian lari ($680).

Meanwhile, the average monthly earnings in the non-profit and financial sector increased by 18.1 percent, compared to the first quarter of 2022, and amounted to 1,643 Georgian lari ($630).

The highest average nominal earnings was recorded in Tbilisi and amounted to 2,026 lari ($780) in the first quarter of this year, while the lowest earnings level - in the region of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, where it amounted to 912.7 lari ($350.4).

According to the types of activities, the highest average monthly earnings were recorded in the following sectors in the first quarter of 2023:

Financial and insurance activities – 3,761 Georgian lari ($1,440) – 23.8-percent increase;

Information and communication – 3,631 Georgian lari ($1,390) – 55.2 percent increase;

Professional, scientific and technical activities – 2,386 Georgian lari ($920) – 5.5-percent increase;

Construction – 2,145 Georgian lari ($820) – 14.7-percent increase.

A difference in earnings between men and women in Georgia was recorded in the reporting period. The average monthly earnings for women equaled 2,053 Georgian lari ($790) and for men - 1,375 Georgian lari ($530).
