Turkey will simplify the procedure of granting citizenship to foreign investors, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said.

He made the remarks Nov. 14 after the meeting of Turkey’s Cabinet of Ministers, TRT Haber TV channel reported.

“The limit for investments in the Turkish economy and other conditions for the simplified granting of citizenship will be determined,” said Kurtulmus, commenting on the draft law submitted for discussion to the country’s Cabinet of Ministers.

The law on granting foreigners the right to purchase immovables in Turkey without preconditions came into force in the country in August 2012. In 2013, a foreign buyer received the right to purchase up to 60 hectares of land in Turkey with getting residence permit in the country during one year.

A foreigner can also buy a land area on the territory of Turkey’s military facilities with the permission of the country’s General Staff. Also, foreign citizens may buy no more than 10 percent of the total land area in each province of Turkey.
