Passenger transportation by air in Turkey dropped by 18.8 percent from January through March 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to 33.5 million passengers, Trend reports referring to Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure on April 13.
During this period, the passenger flow on domestic flights amounted to 19.4 million people, which is 20.9 percent less compared to the same period of 2019.
“Slightly over 14.1 million passengers were transported by international flights from January through March 2020, which is 15.7 percent less than in the same period of 2019,” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, from January through March 2020, more than 11.9 million passengers were transported via three major airports of Turkey’s Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya cities.
