Police in the Finnish capital detained 57 eco-activists from the Elokapina movement (a structure of the international Extinction Rebellion movement), who blocked traffic on one of the city’s central streets.
It is specified that at present, traffic has been restored.
The detainees will be released after the completion of investigative actions.
The Elokapina movement has announced several "Boiling Point" protests for September. The first action took place on September 3. Activists are calling on the government to end environmentally harmful subsidies and take responsibility for the climate crisis by ending violations of the Climate Law and the Paris Agreement. The next events are scheduled for September 7 and 27.
