Israel demolishes Palestinian houses in West Bank

Israeli forces demolished makeshift houses for Palestinian farmers and herdsmen in a West Bank area controlled by Israel, witnesses said Wednesday.

The houses provided shelters to 45 families near Beit Fourik village, east of Nablus city, which is classified as Area C, said the witnesses, Xinhua reported.

It is the fourth time that the Israeli bulldozers demolish the houses and barns in the small village, the witness added.

Under interim peace agreements with the Palestinians, Israel exercises full military and civil control over some 60 percent of the West Bank, a zone known as "Area C". The PNA-controlled Area A and B make up nearly 38 percent of the West Bank.

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) controls the West Bank, but moving between the territory's areas requires passing through Israeli checkpoints, especially when entering Area C.
