A leading Libyan opposition group said on Saturday that thousands of people have taken to the streets in the northern coastal city of Misurata, following days of violent pro- democracy protests that have left dozens dead.
The National Front for the Salvation of Libya said that protesters were marching and chanting "Down with Gaddafi" in the city.
In the past few days, the demonstrations appeared to be centered around the northern cities of Benghazi and Baida, dpa reported.
The New York-based Human Rights Watch estimates that at least 84 protesters have been killed during three days of protests against Libyan leader Moamer Gaddafi, based on phone interviews with hospital staff and witnesses.
