Syria ignored an Arab League deadline, which expired on Friday, to allow an observer mission into the country to monitor implementation of an peace plan by the regional body, an Arab diplomat in Beirut told dpa.
"The deadline which was given to Syria has ended and the no response was sent to the Arab League," the diplomat said, referring to the ultimatum that expired at 1100 GMT.
