Albanian police arrested 15 persons and is looking for 7 others accused of using violence during the protest on Saturday, police said in a statement, Trend citing Xinhua.

According to the statement, Albanian police have arrested 15 citizens for the criminal offenses of "Opposing of the public order police officer", "Hitting someone while on duty", "Property destruction" and "Disturbing of public order".

In a reaction to Saturday's protest, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed his dismay at the echo of violent opposition protest in foreign media.

"What dismay at the echo of yesterday's ugliness in international media. The blind policy of an opposition without vision, program and leadership did nothing to the government, but hit Albania in the eyes of the world and fed all those needing pretexts to drag accession negotiations with European Union. It's a shame," Rama said.

Thousands of Albanian protesters under the direction of the Albanian opposition parties clashed with Albanian police and attacked the office of Rama.

The opposition protests against the government, asking for Rama to resign and for early elections. The protesters broke through the police cordon, attacked the front door of the prime minister's office, throwing Molotov cocktail and bottles filled with gasoline.

Meanwhile, at the end of the protest, leader of the main opposition Democratic Party Lulzim Basha invited protesters to join another protest on Feb. 21.
