BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. The Turkish Parliament on Tuesday, January 23, may vote on Sweden's accession to NATO, Trend reports.

According to the TV channel, the protocol on Sweden's accession to NATO will be included in the parliamentary agenda. Recently, as a CNN Turk correspondent clarifies, this was discussed in the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs. It is expected that after parliamentary discussions, the protocol providing for Sweden's membership in NATO will be put to a vote.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed hope that Türkiye and Hungary would soon ratify Sweden's entry into the alliance. According to him, Stockholm's accession will make NATO stronger.

Sweden and Finland have applied to join NATO in 2022 amid the outbreak of war in Ukraine. Helsinki officially became a member of the alliance in April 2023. Sweden has not yet joined the alliance, including due to disagreements with Türkiye.
