Large-scale military operation in Gaza City is only a matter of time, Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai said, the Ha-Aretz newspaper reported.

Vilnai criticized the Cabinet of national security decision taken not to provide additional funds from budget to protect Israeli settlements surrounding the Gaza City. He said that in the literal sense of the word "endangering the lives of people".

"The truce broken and we can find ourselves in the midst of escalating violence in the south at any time. The military operation is just a matter of time. And the requirements of the security to allocate additional funds are intended to protect the residents of southern Israel," Valnai said.

Israeli Vice Prime Minister Haim Ramon expressed displeasure due to the inaction of the Cabinet and Security Service officers in the face of the Israeli Defence Forces. Ramon has commented on the fact that Israel did not respond to the fact that the south is subjected to daily firing of 'Qassam' rockets. He said that fully understood the ministers and militaries fear that Israel will be accused of violating international law once again. "However, the duty of Israel is to protect its citizens, even risking the opportunity to go to Belgium again," the Vice Premier said.

In the meantime, ministers and Israeli security service expect a support from judicial authorities represented by a legal adviser to the Government Meni Mazuza, who is authorized to give official permission to take retaliatory steps in response to the aggression from Gaza City, such as shooting rockets of Palestinian terrorists or cut of electricity.
