Israeli soldiers on Monday evicted pro-Palestinian activists from a West Bank outpost north-west of Jerusalem, a military spokeswoman said, dpa reported.

Some 15 Palestinian and foreign activists had set up four tents to protest Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank.

The Israeli military notified the activists of the pending eviction on Sunday and barred more protesters from reaching the site. Israeli soldiers manning a checkpoint near the site fired tear gas and stun grenades during clashes with protesters.

On January 13, Israel evacuated a larger outpost set up in a controversial area between East Jerusalem and the Jewish settlement of Ma'aleh Adumim.
