( Theage ) Former Australia skipper Greg Chappell, who quit as India coach after his team's shock World Cup first-round exit earlier this year, will return to the country to guide a state cricket academy, officials said.

Chappell has been hired as an adviser for the new academy to be started by the Rajasthan cricket association next month and will help introduce modern training methods, its president Lalit Modi said in a statement on Monday.

The Australian had a controversial 18-month stint as India coach, especially regarding the sacking of former skipper Saurav Ganguly who has since made a comeback in international cricket after regaining his batting form.
