(Xinhua) - Georgia will lift the state of emergency in coming days, given the situation is stabilized, President Mikheil Saakashvili said on Saturday, according to reports reaching here.
The state of emergency will be lifted "not by somebody's recommendation, but when we find it necessary," Saakashvili told a group of business people, state television showed.
Saakashvili declared 15 days of state of emergency in the capital Tbilisi Wednesday following a week of demonstrations. Under the state of emergency public rallies have been banned and opposition media shut down.
The state of emergency was expected to last until 7:30 p.m. Moscow time (1630 GMT) Nov. 22 in the Caucasus country.
