Abu Dhabi to spend $200b on infrastructure

Abu Dhabi has embarked on an ambitious plan to develop its infrastructure and the "Plan Abu Dhabi 2030" will be the comprehensive guideline for the development of the capital city for quarter of a century into the future, according to Falah Mohammad Al Ahbabi, director general, urban planning, Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi.

Al Ahbabi said that a total of $200 billion will be pumped into various projects in the coming five years and the government's share will constitute only 40 per cent of the total spending while the remaining share will come from the private sector.

The real estate and construction sectors will witness an unprecedented growth. He said that the Plan Abu Dhabi is drawn up in consultation with renowned experts in the field.

He said that the Plan is based on principles of sustained development, and has taken into its consideration the future population and economic realities of Abu Dhabi. ( Gulf )
