Yesterday, Governor Schwarzenegger met with local elected officials and community and business leaders from San Luis Obispo to continue statewide discussions on budget reform. ( GCG )
Over the last two weeks, the Governor has participated in similar discussions with local officials from Bakersfield, Orange County, the East Bay, the Inland Empire, and Fresno County. Earlier this year, in his State of the State address the Governor proposed the Budget Stabilization Act, a Constitutional Amendment to fundamentally reform the state budget process. If such reforms had been implemented sooner and were in place today, California would not be facing the budget challenges it must now address. As part of current discussion, the Governor will also continue to urge the legislature to take immediate action on the 2008-09 state budget.
