( dpa ) - The fabled Rolling Stones are set to release their new concert film, directed by Martin Scorsese, across the US on Friday, with the rollout due to include a record-breaking number of 93 IMAX theatres, it was announced Monday.

"IMAX puts you right in the centre of every action and every move - it's as if you are right there on stage with the band," said Scorsese. "I've always loved looking at IMAX, but to see these images of the Rolling Stones on the biggest canvas is something else altogether."

The film Shine A Light is composed of footage taken from multiple cameras during a two night concert run at the Beacon Theatre in New York.

The 17 songs featured in the film include Stones classics like Jumpin' Jack Flash, Start Me Up and Brown Sugar, as well as guest appearances from the likes of blues legend Buddy Guy, White Stripes guitarist Jack White and singer Christina Aguilera.
