France pledges more troops to Afghanistan
(dpa) - France has pledged to send a "substantial" number of troops to NATO's mission in Afghanistan, a NATO spokesman said Wednesday.
The contribution will allow US troops to support Canada in the south of the country, thus satisfying Canadian demands for support in the war-torn region as a precondition for staying in the country until 2011.
