Former US President Jimmy Carter arrives in Amman, to meet Jordan's King Abdullah

Former US President Jimmy Carter arrived in Amman Sunday in the course of a Middle East fact-finding tour. ( dpa )

He was expected to have talks with King Abdullah II and prominent Jordanian politicians to brief them on the outcome of his talks with Hamas Politburo chief Khalid Mishaal in Damascus and his proposal for reaching a truce in the Gaza Strip.

Carter so far visited Israel, Egypt, Syria and Saudi Arabia. He was due to visit Israel again.
