The Incredible Hulk beats The Happening at US cinemas

Against the muscle of the Incredible Hulk the apocalypse thriller The Happening had little chance at the US cinema over the weekend, the dpa reported.

The Hulk remake catapulted with 54.5 million dollars to first place on the charts, according to studio estimates. The Happening, the new horror piece from producer M. Night Shyamalan, exceeded Hollywood's expectations bringing in 30.5 million dollars, but it was only enough this weekend for the third place.

In second place was Kung Fu Panda, which topped sales at US cinemas last week, bringing in 60 million dollars with its story of a panda named Po who wants to be martial arts star. The animated film earned 34.3 million this weekend. The comedy You Don't Mess with the Zohan with Adam Sandler as an agent of the Israeli secret service Mossad, who fakes his death in order to become in New York hairdresser, came in fourth place with 16.4 million dollars at the box office.

Steven Spielberg landed fifth place with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with Harrison Ford. Together with the 13.7 million dollars in ticket sales this weekend the fourth instalment of the adventurer Indy has already brought in 275 million dollars in four weeks.
