Russia, Moscow, 20 August /corr. Trend R.Agayev / Georgia continues taking measures to restore troops, the Deputy Chief of General Staff of Russia, A.Nogovitsyn, stated today at the briefing in Moscow.
According to Nogovitsyn, the Black Sea fleet fulfills tasks to provide safety on Abkhazia coasts, the Russian peacemaking contingent carries out its tasks.
"The situation in the conflicting zone is under control of peacemakers," A.Nogovitsyn said.
Large-scale military operations commenced in the unrecognized South Ossetia republic in the early morning of 8 August. Georgian Army was reported to enter Tskhinvali on 9 August. Russian troops forced the Georgian troops back to territory of Georgia.
On 12 August the President Russia Dmitriy Medvedev said that he made a decision to finish operations on bringing Georgia to peace.
