Sony delays release of LittleBigPlanet on Muslim offence fears
Sony Entertainment has postponed its release of a highly anticipated action game because music lyrics in a background song use passages from the Koran and could offend Muslim players, the company said Monday, reported dpa.
The Japanese video game company is now to begin shipment of the Playstation 3 game LittleBigPlanet as early as October 27 in North America and October 30 in Japan with the controversial music track replaced.
In Europe, the game would soon be released, a company spokesman said, though no specific date was announced.
"We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offence that this may have caused," Sony Entertainment said in a statement.
