Republican John McCain is taking his underdog campaign to a town called Defiance in the must-win state of Ohio, as he seeks to confound polls five days before the election and score an upset victory over Democrat Barack Obama, the Associated Press reported.

Obama has used his large financial advantage to campaign in traditionally Republican areas, stumping for voters in states that are too close to call and forcing McCain to compete on his own turf.

Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview broadcast Thursday that "when the polls close on Tuesday, you don't want to say to yourself, 'Here's something I didn't do, here's an argument I didn't make, here's a hand I didn't shake."'

He was in critical Florida on Thursday, where he pressed his message tying McCain's policies to those of the unpopular U.S. president.
