Bush says all nations should promote free trade despite economic crisis

President Bush says developed and developing nations need to work together to resolve the global financial crisis, foxnews reported.

Bush, addressing an economic summit in Peru, is touting free markets and free trade. He is calling on the members of the 21-nation Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum not to retreat into protectionism to buffer what he calls the "painful effects of the financial crisis."

The president said Saturday that countries should "resist the temptation to overcorrect by imposing regulations that would stifle innovation and strangle growth."
