Pakistan's security forces have arrested 144 suspects since they launched an operation in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan, the News Network International (NNI) news agency reported on Thursday.
The political authorities of Khyber Agency claimed to have arrested 144 suspects including 116 Afghan nationals during the operation, according to the NNI.
As the operation entered the third day, the security forces Thursday continued pounding suspected hideouts of the militants and their supporters to secure supplies for North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces in Afghanistan, reported Xinhua .
The Political Agent of Khyber Agency Tariq Hayat hinted that the situation was fully under the control and the Pak-Afghan highway might soon be reopened for the general traffic.
