The Israeli special forces killed 21-year-old leader of the radical Palestinian Islamic jihad group Aladdin Issam Abu Rabi in Kabaty south of Jenin, the Al Arabiyya Web site reported.
Witnesses said the Israeli soldiers opened fire on Abu Rabi's house. Abu Rabi's body was taken to the Khalil Suleyman Hospital where doctors confirmed his death. He was shot three times in the head and chest.
The Israeli soldiers said they found a Kalashnikov submachine gun and several cartridges at his home.
The Israeli government accused Abu Rabi of organizing military operations against the Israeli army on the West Bank and recruiting Palestinians to conduct terrorism attacks against Israeli forces.
